I’m always keeping an eye on Greek start-ups and entrepreneurs. I found one start-up today that raised my curiosity, Dopios started back in 2012 and got founded by Openfund in 2013. Originally started in San Francisco but the founders did the unexpected and moved the company back to Athens.
This online service matches travelers with local guides. Usually local experts within their own area of expertise that want to share their home cities with the rest of the world.
It is a simple and great idea and I think that the demand for this kind of services will increase in the future. The traditional travel agency packages where one size fits all, doesn’t suit our personalized and digital world. More and more people are setting up and plan their vacations by themselves and a service like Dopios makes it even easier to leave the tourist traps and Experience the city like the locals do.
